Lesson on Fleming's Left Hand Rule

Recap on Right Hand Grip Rule

What will happen when the current carrying wire placed in a magnetic field?
It will experience a FORCE. This effect is called the motor effect.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
What are the directions of the magnetic field, current and force?

TRY THESE QUESTIONS!

  1. Did you realise that a current-carrying conductor would meet force in a magnetic field? It's known as electromagnetic force, or emf. This function is included into all modern electric motors and generators. So we know a force is operating on the current-carrying conductor, but how do we know which way it is pulling? If only a simple process could be applied in almost every situation. Fleming left hand rule will accomplish the trick.
